SAURABH SANYAL
Saurabh Sanyal is the Secretary General of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a position he’s held since January 2015. As a seasoned professional with over 39 years of diverse experience in the Armed forces and corporate sector, Sanyal brings valuable expertise to the table.
A mechanical engineer and postgraduate from IIT Madras, Sanyal also holds an MSc in Disaster Mitigation and an MBA from IMT Ghaziabad. Before joining PHDCCI, he served as a Colonel in the Army Headquarters, New Delhi, participating in notable operations such as Counter Insurgency Op Rakshak in J&K, Op Parakram, Op Bajrang, and Op Rhino in the Northeast ³ ¹ ². His distinguished service earned him the Chief of the Army Staff Commendation twice, in 1994 and 2005.
Sanyal’s professional journey includes planning and implementing infrastructure projects at national and international levels, focusing on construction, power, and energy sectors in Africa, SAARC countries, and across India ³. Prior to his current role, he served as Executive Director at PHDCCI since May 2013 before taking over as the Secretary General.
As a respected member of various industry associations, including the Indian Building Congress, Indian Road Congress, and the Institution of Engineers, Sanyal’s expertise extends beyond his corporate responsibilities. Outside of work, he’s an avid sportsman and passionate golfer.
